Department of Master of Computer Application:-
Information technology is a collection of tools and techniques for fast collection, storage, processing, and transmission of information and knowledge which is ultimately used for strategic planning, timely decision making, assessment of risks, quality service..etc. with the growing of information technology and the dependency of the mankind on computers the demand for the computer processional has increased many folds.
The department of MCA was started in the year 2008. The department offers three year full time masters programme in computer application (MCA), the programme is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar.
Eligibility:-
The eligibility for applying for admission to the post graduation programme in computer application is a graduation degree in any stream from recognised university. The candidate must have studied mathematics subject at 10+2 level or statistical subjects at the graduation level.
The programme:-
It is three year full time programme divided into six semesters. The programme objective are to build a strong theoretical and practical foundation of information technology. During the programme the students are provided with knowledge of data structures, computer architecture, system programming, operating systems, database management systems, windows programming, java, oracle...etc. In order to familiarise with students with the real world situations, it is imperative for the students to work in organisations. Each student spends 5 - 6 months in organisation. During the training period the students has to prepare a project which is evaluated by the experts. It is the crucial part of the MCA programme and provides the students an opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge in the real working environment.
Activities:-
To build the over all personality of the students , the department conducts various personality development activities like presentations, programming competitions, group discussions , mock interviews...etc. the students are encouraged to participate in various intra and inter college competitions. Industrial visits and interaction with the experts from the academics and industry are a common feature at the department.
Facilities:-
The department has an independent block with all the required facilities to groom the managers of tomorrow like
• Spacious classrooms,
• Conference hall,
• Computer Labs,
• Internet accessibility...etc
Faculty:-
The department has experienced and qualified full time faculty members. Apart from regular full time faculty the department has on its panel a list of visiting faculty members from industry and academics. The deliver of the lectures is done through both modern and traditional delivery aids.
Admission procedure:-
The admission to the MCA programme is through a
• State level entrance exam conducted by university,
• National level exam and
• Direct through management quota seats.
The rules for admission fees are as per the guidance of university and concerned authorities.
